Of course I could forgo all this and just skip warlock and just go sorc, get +1HP/level Same AC/Stats shield and MORE spells, get 2 attacks via paladin, get an oath. So fiend is better for survivability hands down long run. Fiend is better for first few levels, but then hex, then fiend + sorc takes the cake later. This would be super late… level 9 earliest, 2+5+2. I can off set this with one level of sorc this has the double bonus of giving me shield, but also gives me and extra spell/aday (would probably get 2 levels so I can get up to 6 spells, level 3 caster is amazing bump, plus gives meta magic… also more spells… also +1 hP per level if I go dragon, or any of the other fun stuff). It burns your offense to do it… but is amazing. Preventing that 21 and 19 from hitting you that round is better then any number of temps you can possibly get. The hex blade does have one thing going for it, one spell called shield. The false life evocation helps mitigate this at low levels a bit. The hexblades curse sucks in this reguard, +temp on kill is SOO much better. ![]() At 12 warlock (14) you get + char mod damage again so that is doubley sweet for hexblade. ![]() Seems hexblade is a very slight advantage here. NOVA wise, hexblade has a small bonus due to critting on a 19/20, hurl and fireball are pretty sweet too. Hexblade gets + 2 damage against cursed target per attack. Slight increase to hexblade, simply because +2 charīoth get 2nd attack at level 7 both get hex both get same smites. I am leaning towards keeping regular str.Ĭonclusion. I could go medium armor, get my dex to 14, str to 13, have 1 less HP/level one less AC, for +3 to dex saves… but no wasted str. Still need the 15 str for heavy armor, can still get 16 con. If I go hexblade, I will need 16 char, damage and attack, plus bonus damage to cursed target. All in all not awful, won’t be using char for damage. If I go fiend, I need a full 16 in str, making con a 16, but char 14. This gives me 2 more spells per day then pure warlock also (even if only first level), hex or smite, or shield all yummy). To do this I need to keep a 13 in str… can’t dump it for multi-class purposes. Then possibly sentinel, we shall see.įirst 2 levels are paladin, sure second attack is late at 7, but I been getting 2 attacks for a while, so good things for those who wait… The goal is like everyone else, pole arm master (2 attacks level 1) smiting fun maybe on both. The age old question of fiend vs hex blade, but it’s a bit more then that, it becomes fiend + sorc vs hex blade. Hello all, I have seen many post about fighter/warlock, but haven’t seen the paladin one so I will ask.
